Year 2016 Top 15 memorable News that made headlines out of Nigeria, What was your reaction then?

2016 has been a great year, with its ups and downs, highs and lows, ignominy and honourableness. In all it was a dramatic year filled with happenings that either made us smile, wonder, shook our head in disbelief, and marvel.

I think this event that astonished us to a very large extent and stayed in the news for a while its worth being well documented, if not for anything, for us to have yet another glimpse of what we can do as a Nation –albeit how unthinkable, unimaginable or ingenious it can be.

15.  Nigeria to import grass from Brazil, what's left for us to import? THE CLOUD: The green on our flag that shows we are a fertile Nation was corrupted by the previous govt.

This suggestion will never be forgotten in a hurry after many Nigerians felt it was a big shame and an idea lacking any iota of wisdom, it received barrage and avalanche of criticism, impugnation and castigation. Trust the social media not to disappoint at times like this, it was buzzing, raging, reacting, and even cursing, only a very few supported the idea - that the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh was on a mission to innovate the traditional and nomadic system of ruminants like sheep, and cattle husbandry in Nigeria.

14. In a Land in far west Africa, lived a governor saddled with the mission to save Nigeria.

The infamous letter to Gov. Ayodele Fayose wrote to the president of china, Xi Jingping, seeking that they don’t borrow Nigeria the $2 billion loan sought by the Nigerian government. He wrote for the generality of the masses, in the April 12 letter, this made people to tag his move as opposition taking too far, but trust me, Gov. Ayodele Fayose is one that wasn’t perturbed he made the news all-round the whole year.

13. That moment you begin to wonder if this is the best we can elect as our leaders, how on earth do we select our leaders? The Infamous Anti-Social Media bill.

I never imagined in my wildest dreams that a bill like this can ever be spoken of or even passed. The senate had to bow to the various arsenals and garrison ready for battle on every social media platform, the same social media that was pivotal to the electoral victory of president Muhammadu Buhari, suddenly became the problem of Nigerians. The bill was sponsored by the deputy senate leader, senate Ibn Na’allah and was dropped after the presentation of the report on the bill, by the chairman, senate committee on Judiciary, human rights and Legal Matters, senator David Umaru (APC, Niger east).

12. Nigeria, the country with the most patriotic youth, following the unprecedented application to join the Nigeria Police, of a truth, Police is your friend.

What would best explain the kind of traffic that was so huge to have crashed the police recruitment website. The portal that was opened for registration by 4am crashed by 2pm and yet when you hear people talk about the police on the street Nigeria, you will think it’s the worse profession that anyone will ever do. Police is your friend after all.

11. The type of ear infection you get when all Nigerians are complaining with a loud voice.

Big man, big trouble, a popular saying in Nigeria, when Nigeria got the news that president travelled out for ear treatment, a disturbing news since most Nigerians took president Muhammadu Buhari to be an austere person that will not toe the path of previous leaders that wasted public monies on treatment oversees and this time it was just an ear infection, it beggars imagination to ask if we any have university teaching medicine in Nigeria?, That we can’t find any hospital that could do this surgery. Trust Gov. Ayodele fashola to take up the role of FBI to beam searchlight into the president journey and the inquisition of Nigerians, that persuaded the presidency to issue clearer statement on the matter and the spokesperson to the president later confirmed that the presidency spent about 20 million as expenses.

10. When we say kidnapping someone is a crime, we never expected a person to kidnap a minor, forcefully marry her and impregnate the same person. The Ese Oruru, alleged abducted daughter.

Ese oruru, the teenager that was allegedly kidnapped from bayelsa and taken to Kano, where she was married without the consent of her parent and impregnated by Yunisa Dahiru, a Kano state indigene, surprised people, a case of a minor, who was at that time in junior secondary school. Is it by force to marry again? Since the case is in court, we hope justice is served.

9. Mixed reaction on protest against fuel price increase, there is no place for a hungry man protesting.

It was a total difference from the January 2012 protest when President Goodluck Jonathan increased fuel price, Nigerians came out in their numbers and occupied the nation, but fast forward to 2016, it was marred by hunger in the land, people stayed back at home and those that even protested got tired after the first day. TUC, NLC, ASUU, APC youths, IPAC, CSO, where all saying different things on the increase on pump price of PMS till the matter died naturally.

8. on sport - ‘we never knew Falcons will win AWCON’ – Mr. Solomon Dalung, simply put, participate, but don’t win! And the late arrival of the Nigeria team kit, when we had Aba boys.

When you are presented for a competition with the hope that you just participate and not win is the apt definition of this kind of statement by an appointed minister of the federal republic of Nigeria. The Minister of Youths and Sports, Mr. Solomon Dalung made the remark after the Falcons revealed that they have not been made match bonuses of about N235 million naira promised them by the government. The players had seized the trophy they won at the competition. The Nigerian Olympic team kit arrived three days to the end of the Olympic, may be that would replace the lack of medals that they failed to win.

7. Even as an octogenarian, US Green card is truly green. Prof. Wole Soyinka was just joking on tearing his US visa.

The Nobel Laurette, prof. Wole Soyinka unsolicitatedly brought himself for public ridicule, haven declared that he is going to damage his US Green card if Donald Trump wins the election, unfortunately, Hilary Clinton lost the November 8, polls. Donald Trump was elected the president and it was only then prof. wole Soyinka made us know we are intruding on his privacy. The green card as we all know remains untouched.

6. Dec. 13,2016, suspension of MMM. The devil that people suddenly won’t mind living with, MMM ponzi scheme or not, this Nigerians are ready to drown with it. Has MMM Crashed?

Following the order by the house of representatives to investigate the MMM scheme that it’s a Ponzi scheme, this caused serious confrontation between the participants that felt the Government is out to destroy the only solution they think is helping them out of the current economic recession, to them this is paying more dividends than our democracy since 1999, simply put, they are ready to drown with it – more like, what’s the sudden concern of the government for the masses? Apostle Johnson Suleiman declared that it was a sin and the heavenly minded Christian were the first to suggest he’s not speaking from God and those that always tagged pastors as people that milked their followers dry, didn’t even acknowledged that he said this bearing in mind that he’s not interest in the tithe that will come after 30 days from members that participate. January 2017, will be an interesting time for the members. With many Nigerians waiting to say, we told them.

5. Linda Ikeji and Wizkid, Age shouldn't not be a barrier, common take the bold step

You would almost think these two celebrities, Blogger Linda Ikeji and Artiste, Ayo Balogun have been married in the world before if there is anything like that. It all started with an embarrassing mistake from Wzkid where he said he own a home in the US, which Linda Ikeji later revealed that it was hired. It sparked off with Wizkid calling Linda Ikeji, unsavory name calling, like smelly that, hoe and what not, that we never expected from a five-star artiste that he is, the case was reported by Linda Ikeji claiming threat to her life when Wizkid wrote ‘RIP Linda Ikeji’ in one of his replies. Once more, police are your friend in this case.

4. The room that even the users dare not call its real name, instead it’s the other room – room for secret mission, that surpasses US Osama bin Laden’s secret mission.

Image result for buhari the other room
It all started with the wife of the president, Mrs. Aisha Buhari declaring that she may not support her husband come 2019 if he runs for election. When president Muhammadu Buhari was asked for his reaction, he laughed off the comment and dished out the comment that sparked off reactions on social media and other print and electronic media, he said ‘’I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room.’’ This prompted German Chancellor Angela Merkel, standing next to him during the interview to produce that funny stare, that you make reading to be like, Hello, Sir, a lady is standing next to you, watch it. Mrs. Aisha Buhari even went on to say that the president does not know many top appointees in his cabinet, this was when she was interviewed by the BBC Hausa-language service broadcast.

3. what should have remained in the other room. TeeBillz and Tiwa Savage marriage crisis.

One clear lesson we all learnt this 2016 is that never bring up on social media what you should have settled with your spouse in the other room. This was the case when Teebillz started the public meltdown and outburst on social media about the crisis rocking their marriage, apportioning all blames on Tiwa savage. Well, no be who first carry case go police station dey win case. It all ended with the star actress entertaining an interview that lasted close to an hour, revealing dirty things about their marriage, trying to overturn the blame to her husband, Teebillz. You would almost think Teebillz account was hacked with revelations like my wife slept with 2 face, don jazzy and others. He also claimed he was undergoing mental torture by her wife and also claiming that Tiwas’ mother is a witch. The issue is just a long one can’t be covered here.

2. Of all this fruit, avoid the Cucumber, the forbidden fruit of the 2016

I wouldn’t want to shed too much light on this, because I think there is more to it than meet the eye, but it lasted on various social media for days, with videos in part released showing two beauty queen helping themselves reach an unknown destination with the use of cucumber to get sexual pleasure.

1. When budget suddenly becomes miracle worker. The budget padding imbroglio

When you see even an uneducated person on the street giving you a definition of budget padding in the layman’s definition, then you will know Nigerians are at it again. We all got to add the new word to our lexicon. This sole act delayed the passing of the budget, and about 22 top federal officials were sacked as contained in president Muhammadu Buhari autobiography, written by prof. John Paden. We got to learn that the budget was a copy and paste version containing project that have been completed by the past administration.

What news have I missed? Do you agree with the ranking? What was your reaction when this news was first headlined?

Why are Nigerians afraid to express their glamour and style when dressed for interview in the creative industry

what's the ideal dress that a person going for an interview in the creative industry should wear. he or she is expected to show glamour and style but still looking polished, professional and decent. But the case is far from this in Nigeria, everyone must be dressed in suit at the mention of interview. so what's your say, have you tried looking glamorous for an interview in the creative industry and what was the outcome and if you are to have an interview in the creative industry would you dare not to be in suit. by creative industry i refer to industries like radio station, newspaper, magazine, fashion, interior design etc.

WHY DO THE MEASURE WE ACCORD TO CRITICISM & APPRECIATION OF GOOD & BAD DEEDS DIFFER GREATLY AS NIGERIANS?

WHY DO THE MEASURE WE ACCORD TO CRITICISM & APPRECIATION OF GOOD & BAD DEEDS DIFFER GREATLY AS NIGERIANS?

Image result for nigeria

A sane society that want to re brand its perceived corrupt society must be ready to reward good deeds and make people that are still finding it difficult to have a good moral conduct see that the reward does not start when you go to heaven, that it starts from earth. Show me a man or woman that did an almost unimaginable good deed in Nigeria and I will conclude that his or her deed must have gone unnoticed and unannounced in the closest neighbourhood or any social media platform.

The case is different when a Nigerian has done a bad deed, perhaps he picked up a phone and didn't give the owner but eloped with it, if caught, various social media platform will be awash with the latest news of how a robber was caught, beaten to pulp, and almost burnt but was saved by the whisker when the law enforcers where passing by. We are quick to criticize bad deeds done – though when we are in that situation some of us would even do worse – but hardly do we tell of people’s good deed (no wonder the world over thinks all Nigerians are fraudsters because it’s only the news of someone that has done a bad deed that we all want to hear and propagate likewise)

Only recently this month a lady paid a huge sum of money into my Stanbic IBTC bank account, I already knew it must have been a mistake, I was waiting for the bank to do a call back and debit my account, while waiting for days, I showed it to some Neighbours, it was only one person that made sense, majority made it look like ‘God works in mysterious ways’ ‘he has picked up your call’. This same people will come on line when someone commit a bad deed and will be the first to throw a stone.

The third day I went to the bank and the branch in Umuahia, Abia state, Nigeria that did the transaction, was called by the bank and the necessary reconciliation was done (I can get the bank to testify for doubting Thomas’), I didn't speak with the lady and we may never even cross paths, notwithstanding that I spent my money on transport because I needed to get all the details of the current account since I have abandoned it for a while coupled with the suspicious treatment that I was given by the lady who was in the customer care unit just for asking for the ladies detail when I couldn't remember my account number, neither did she want to help me search for my account detail even though I told her I wanted to return what’s not mine, I had to return to the bank severally.

This is not my first time returning what’s not mine, not the second or third time and won’t be my last time, but I have been doing deeds like this as a Nigerian and I asked myself that I am sure the world over would have heard my story and the story of other Nigerians if a different scenario played out - if I had withdrawn the money and spent all or part. What do we do to make people believe in doing good deeds, its either you are told a very silent thank you and your friends ask you that do you have a secret wish to remain poor.

We need to extol people that do-good deeds in Nigeria more than the way and energy we accord to criticizing and giving jungle justice – which has not changed the moral decadence in our society. You are guilty if you won’t tell your closest neighbour of someone that refunded your money when you overpaid, but will shout to the loudest voice when he steals your phone. It shouldn't always end with a thank you, tell someone, post it on social media, if it’s a big firm give the person an award. I propose that they should be a body that can give award of this kind may be patriotic Nigerian award – people can send good deeds people have done to them and they are awarded, this can upturn the situation in Nigeria and people will find more reason to do good, though doing good should come natural.

The police must also stop treating people that have picked up people that are involved in accident and died on their hand may be on transit as prime suspect, this has not helped the situation in Nigeria. This is the change I am clamouring for.
A country that want to stop corruption, bad morals and crime must not only have an ignominious or severe punishment for wrong doers but also a greater reward for does who have shown their self-worth by doing an unimaginable good deed, this way people will be obliged to get a reward rather than get severely punished. The same way you will publicly announce the bad deed of someone should also be the same way a person good deed is announced.

What do you ladies and guys think?

THE FESTIVE SEASON IS HERE AGAIN, BUYING GUIDE - AVOID ALL THIS IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE REGRETFUL.

THE FESTIVE SEASON IS HERE AGAIN, BUYING GUIDE -  AVOID ALL THIS IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE REGRETFUL.

Don’t Branch Into That Shop Extemporaneously, Yes Don’t!

You are on your way home, perhaps from work or an event and here you are staring at this beautiful apparel that is just too good to resist, YES! It’s tempting, it may even be the only one that has ever been made, the world over. You may go in there and buy if the year has been so bountiful to you, but if you are watching your purse or wallet, check into the place make enquiry, then you can come back if it can fit into your budget for the season, remember next year is just few days away.

Who Have You Gone To Shop Around With?

Though we hardly know why this recession period is being unfair by leaving some people out, you have to ask yourself where you stand, if that is answered, then you should know the kind of person you go to shop around with, if you don’t want to buy only one thing from morning till dawn, or clothe that you won’t have the shoe to wear it with or probably find out that you have exhausted your budget while you are still on item no. 3 with 5 more item to go. Some friends that have never bought anything on their own, except those bought by that biggest boy in town or those that know where to buy cool recently used ones - bend down select will suddenly be your fashion consultant, choose a friend that doesn't Live a fake life.

Make A List Based On Their Priority And Follow It!

Its not everyone that loves shopping on line and when you intend to buy anything get a price or at least a price range attached to every item you want, your purse or money in the bank may not run dry – thanks to POS, but you would have spent far beyond your expectation, perhaps you may get home only to discover that you left out some things, then your shopping will continue the next day.

Always Go To A Market You Know To An Appreciable Extent

Don’t just wake up one beautiful morning and decide to go to a market you don’t know how it operate, warning! You are not going to a tourist destination for leisure and relaxation, it’s the ultimate shopping experience. I was in a market doing my shopping and this man came in with a guy that he picked inside the market to be his shopping guide – little does he know that the guy has got commission on every goods bought by anyone he brings in, an apparel I bought 12,000 Nigerian Naira, he both same 15k, also considering the time you may waste going to this market and probably your inability to locate the right places for each type of goods, avoid doing this!

Always buy from a trusted Business Entity

A brand that have a lot of its standard and quality to maintain will avoid at all cost to see its name tarnished by selling substandard or cloned product. You may think you have bought it real cheap only for you to discover that it’s the cloned one, shame will not allow you to wear it to any event or even uploading on Instagram, snap chat or any social media. You may not even worry yourself about how to know the fake ones if you are going to buy from a brand with strong reputation of quality.

DO’S AND DON’T WHEN BUYING

Don’t pay before you have been giving the goods you may pay twice, due to the rush
Don’t burden yourself with too many bags you may forget one and probably won’t remember where it fell, use two bags at most.
Don’t tell the shop assistant or sales person to choose what’s best for you, he/she will probably choose the one that is going to make them more profit or the one that have stayed too long in the shelf.
Don’t bring your gadget, phone, wallet with you while shopping you may drop one or two of it mistakenly when you are immersed in your shopping spree.
Try as much as possible not to make it easily noticeable that you don’t know what you are buying, the seller will be afraid to bring a fake one to you and you won’t overpay.
Happy festive season ahead.

WHEN YOU SEE ALL THIS SIGN, KNOW THAT WHAT YOU HAVE IS NOT LEADING TO MARRIAGE - AT BEST, BABYMAMA

WHEN YOU SEE ALL THIS, KNOW THAT YOUR BEST BET IS A BABY MAMA
Have you wondered why the recent trend of young ladies and even adult becoming latest baby mama in town and yet we keep getting avalanche of pre-wedding pictures and wedding pictures? The answer is not farfetched! The only problem is that it is either love or lust have convoluted your ability to decipher the shenanigans and grift in your relationship. Don't impugn this opinion, only just see through the truth and you may see the lies you have been living with.

What is it that attract you to him?

If you are a lady and you've not asked this short but powerful question to see how best it will be answered, then know that you are still having revelry with the guy. when you start hearing answers that don't exceed, you are beautiful, your smile, your legs, the way you talk on phone, blablabla, just know that they are all horseplay - even a person you meet today can tell you all this. but when he goes further to things that involves deeper and thought provoking answers, like things you may be doing or good at that you yourself may or may not know, then you have his heart beat.

He has never shown interest about visiting your family

Sounds almost familiar ba? to you, you believe it's has not been intentional, you can defend him with your last blood simply because you love him, love ke? He keeps coming up with countless uncanny excuses and almost reasonable doubt that have been impeding his heart desire to visit your family. sister, make up your mind, sit him down, tell him it is either now or never! it is the least he is expected to do, if there is going to be a future or growth whatsoever for the relationship. unless you yourself want nothing more than one night stands. your family will know him when he makes you a single mama!

He has everything going for him, but marriage is not an option yet

Shout out to all the ladies out there that have stayed 7 years and above dating a guy, you all deserve all the kudos available on earth! have you tried to know what his fears are? what is his plan? there's no wrong in asking a guy this questions, time wait for no one! your being with him is an hindrance to other serious suitor. are you that complicated that 5 years is not enough to observe that you are a good enough to be wife material? year in, year out, no engagement, no introduction, nothing and you still they wait for change.

When He talks about the kind of lady he wishes to marry

Are you dumbfounded? I was with two lovebird recently, when the guy was there in front of her so called soul mate describing his dream wife, the lady was just there smiling, I almost wanted to conclude that the lady may be under some influence beyond her power. when the ideal future wife description of your so called lover are not inherent in you, know that it is time to move on.

what will be his reason when out of reach for a while

If he is out of reach for a while and you decide to inquire and the only reason he could point out is that he has been busy, forget story! No guy that is truly in love will be so busy not to remember to call the person that make him or her complete. or he try to convince you that he does not deserve you, hmmm, guys go for people that they don't deserve if possible, that one na exit strategy, don't force yourself on him.

He keeps Forgetting your important dates

Forget birthday, that can be seen as a reminder on social media, what about other important dates that relates to your career, social commitment, etc. does he have you in mind.

He doesn't share little or big detail about his plans and career

Inasmuch as people try as much as possible to make discreet their financial status, but there is suppose to be some exemptions with someone you can trust your life with, if this is the case, if a guy trust you and have in his future plan you will sure know some details about his plans.

His he proud to be seen with you in public?

Don't be deceived, there is nothing like I don't like the public to know about my relationship with you, you may not be able to hide it when you become a baby mama, your guy should be proud to be seen with you. some people only do this when they have clandestine motive in a relationship. at least we knew about some major artist baby mamas when the deal has been stamped and delivered. Most of the time the baby mama is not even considered good enough for marriage as seen in marriage trends involving celebs.

Everything you do is just fine with him

Life is not always a bed of roses, and so is relationships. when relationship is too peaceful, fear that relationship, the best bet is a baby mama at most. Someone is just waiting to get what he wants then prepare a break up strategy. Someone that thinks they is a future with you will always bring up issues and habits that he want you to walk on, though there is a limit to this - it must not be always. showing tolerance is good, but there is also a limit.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN! GOLDBERG OVERWHEMINGLY DEFEATS BROCK LESNAR - THE BEASTS

It never occurred to most WWE lovers that it was possible, the beast - brock lesnar, looked like he was going to make life miserable for Goldberg, but he showed him, that he has all it takes. the November survivor series showed that Goldberg still got it going for him, no one imagined that he won the match in less than 2 minutes. he just only recently announced that he will be fighting in the 2017 royal rumble, what are we to expect?
